Midweek Momentum

What you do after work matters. A midweek slump can be a serious set back, especially if things at work haven't been going as smoothly as planned.

I try to stay PROACTIVE versus REACTIVE at the office.

However, we live in a constantly evolving environment where we can easily get discouraged and unmotivated. These activities (listed below) help me keep my momentum throughout the week. Once I decided to plan out my week in advance, I started to feel a positive change within myself.

1. Have friends over for a movie night or go out to the movie theater (I’ve heard Emma adapted from Jane Austen’s novel, is a must-see!)

2. Cook a plant-based meal– The Eat Clean Play Dirty cookbook, written by the founders of Sakara, has many delicious plant-based recipes to try!

3. Make energy snacks for your co-workers (here is a great recipe from Karina Heinrich)

4. Book a pampering session at your favorite spa (Relaxed Foot Spa is my go-to) or set one up at home

5. Set a book club with your friends– or if that is too difficult to coordinate– join an online group such as Reese Witherspoon’s book club (@reesesbookclub), in which every month Reese picks a new book for you to read

If you want to jump in for the month of March, Reese chose The Jetsetters by Amanda Eyre Ward.

6. Go to the theatre, a poetry reading or music concert (you can find a list of shows here)

7. Go for an evening walk– The Nature Boardwalk at the Lincoln Park Zoo is one of my favorite areas. When the weather begins to warm up, there are many people (and dogs) enjoying the fresh air!

There is a great view of the city from the boardwalk bridge.

8. Create a self care sanctuary at home (this means no TV, which is a personal struggle)

If you plan a few of these activities throughout your week, I promise it'll be the weekend in no time!
