Making Memories: 20 Day Challenge
The other night, right before bedtime, Nadia, Enzo and I played a game in which I asked them a bunch of questions about our family. I asked, “What has been the best day of your life so far?”, “What do you most admire about your brother/sister/Mommy?”, “What does your brother/sister do that annoys you?” and continued on. The kids were super engaged, and we laughed nonstop. I live for moments like these; the ones where you really feel connected to one another. It was one of my favorite evenings and it got me thinking... I would like to propose a 20 day challenge for you and your family! Choose one activity per day from the list below, and watch how many beautiful moments unfold. Are you in?
1. Write a love note to your child
2. Spend one-on-one time with your child
3. Dance with your child
4. Cook dinner with your child
5. Talk to your children about the future and their dreams
6. Sing a song with your child– My kids love when I sing in polish
7. Tell your children five things you love about him/her
8. Write a list of things your children would like to do as a family
9. Read a book with your child (you should do this daily!)
10. Bake with your child and/or make their favorite dessert
11. Teach your child a new skill
12. Give your child 100% of your attention when talking with them
13. Unplug from electronics and ask your child to decide how they would like to spend the day together (they may not like this idea)
14. Go through old pictures with your kids
15. Go on walk or go to a playground (even when it is cold outside; it makes it an adventure)
16. Have your child tell you five things they love about you
17. See how well you know your children and prepare a list of questions. For example:
What is your favorite color?
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
What is your favorite meal?
What is your favorite after school activity?
What is your favorite song? What music moves you?
18. Role play what to do if they are being bullied or see someone else being bullied
19. Pick your favorite activity that you did last month and do it again this month
20. Pray together
At the end of each day, write down your kid’s and your favorite moments from the day. There’s nothing in this world more powerful than a child’s love, so make sure to take advantage of these special moments and create lasting memories.
With Love,
MD
